He'll find you! Has he ?

At last I am back this brand new year (Jan 2013) to share about the day I took my first breath of new life.
In the beginning..., that was 25 years ago during a period in my life when I was obviously much younger, on top of the world, feeling invinsible. I had attended a pentecostal church in Lagos, Nigeria for 12 consecutive months where the pastor preached his heart out twice a week and ended every message with an invitation for sinners to repent of their sins and receive the offer of life that jesus Christ offered. I really liked the pastor, his preaching and especially the music. One Sunday afternoon after church on our way home my new bride then (we've now been married 25 years!) asked me what i thought of the young lady guest singer who just sang in church. Without hesistation, I answered " her voice was so sexy!".
Oh, if Titi could have she would have burned me up with the incredulous fire from her big angry eyes! Anyway, that illustrates to you the sinfulness of my unsaved heart. I was not bad and did not sin or so I thought. I never missed church when I am in town from my business travels.  I had attended this church all these 12 months and though by now I could talk the talk and pretend to walk the walk, I was still unwilling to relinquish control of my life to a Lord who may demand that I stopped drinking or partying or sinning. I loved my wife and I had absolutely no intention of cheating on her.
Well, there came one business trip to the Northern part of the country where I had several friends. As soon as I arrived in this particular city some 10 hours drive from home, I headed to the night club with my friends. On the way of course, we stopped to pick up some ladies to accompany us, one of them an old 'friend' of mine. Anyway, I was already two big bottles of Guinness stout alcoholic beverage into the night in the middle of the smoke and pounding disco music when a crystal clear quiet voice said to me, "what are you doing here?" Huh? The voice asked me again "what are you doing here!"
The disco music was eardrum shattering loud but the voice that I now know so well as the voice of the Holy Spirit was louder. Contrition and conviction gripped my heart and I knew it was now or never. I turned to the friend next to me and said as loudly as I could above the noise, " I am going to give my heart to Jesus". A strange thing happened, they all bursted out in laughter and one of them said 'with all that black booze in there the holy spirit won't be able to find his way in there' and then more laughter.
At that point, I got up, said my goodbyes and then I jumped in the car and asked the Lord Jesus Christ into my heart. I then drove 10 1/2 straight hours back South, home. I arrived in the morning.
I got my wife and new baby and together we went to church. I could not wait until the end of the service when the Pastor asked anyone who wanted to surrender to Christ to come forward. I ran to the front with my Titi and both of us received this new life! We also asked for an infilling of the Holy Spirit the same morning and were both filled, with the evidence of speaking with other tongues. It was an incredible feeling, such peace and joy!
It still feels like yesterday, the joy of salvation, the confidence in Him, the assurance of heaven, it can only be experienced to be understood.
I was not broke, I was not sad, I was not depressed, I was not sick, I was making the most money I ever did and I was deliriously happy in my new marriage to my beautiful new wife and yet so much was missing! without Christ. Psalms 34 verse 8 says "Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. " and John 3:16-18 says 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son".  Only the Lord Jesus Christ is able to save from the guttermost to the uppermost. By the way, you also get to avoid hell and instead receive everlasting life.
